"Years upon Years"

I listen to the bearers as they gently sway with fate
I listen to the heat that churns and burns beside of me
The ticking of a clock that has no sound
And yet I hear the heartbeat of this room
It's in me as well
So many nights I've lain while bathing in my own tears
Wearing down the sheet that lay beneath me
Years upon Years
What a thought I just had
What a word I just said
What of all the things that are taken at free will?
What of all the silence that has filled this shallow pail
All the dreams of a child pass not undone
While all the fruits you possess on your emaciated thing are weighing to a ton
When will you forgive those that haunt you?
When will you marry that which taunts you?
Sacrifices must be made
Chances you must take
